Great site design, impeccable organization.

The difference in attitude is obvious; from the moment you arrive at Porndex's home page, you can feel the care that has gone into this site. The site's design is clean, sleek, minimalist, and very user-friendly. At the top of the page is a long, narrow menu bar with nothing more than "Home," "Categories," "Pornstars," and "New Arrivals." It's easy.

Below that is a pink Porndex logo on a white background that pops off the page just above the search bar. If there is nothing in particular you want to search for, Porndex also offers the option to browse the site by clicking on "Popular" or "Random," which will generate a vast Porndex random search. Under the great search engine feature that this site boasts, you will be able to browse thumbnails just as you would on any of the porn tube sites you go to. You can also easily switch between galleries of thumbnails to trending, most popular, recently added, pornstars and tagged, category, tag cloud, or latest searches.

I am concerned that thumbnails are not displayed. No problem, because at the bottom of each search results page there is an option to resize the thumbnails. Just click the button to quickly zoom in or out. This is a completely unique feature that I have not seen anywhere else but Porndex. I love the freedom the site gives me to build and choose my own experience. That one mile can elevate a site from "pretty good" to "incredible".

Of course, this is not necessarily novel. What is novel, however, is the ability to easily organize this list of models by most recent updates, number of videos, most liked, and most popular. Only one small drawback.

When it comes to being a very powerful porn search engine, Porndex definitely excels. My only complaint about the site is that the videos are not embedded at all on Porndex.com. This means that when you click on a thumbnail, you are going directly to the source site and will likely end up with a dozen tabs open in your browser. This is unavoidable due to the nature of search engines, but it is still a minor inconvenience and definitely something to consider when choosing between all kinds of porn sites.

Overall, I think Porndex is a great site. I like the huge selection, the diversity of all the sites the search engine brings out, the great site design, the minimal advertising, the passion behind the creation of the site, and the excellent organization. While I personally may not like the search engine model as a casual way to browse porn, I can't argue with the fact that a site like this would dramatically increase the amount of porn you could choose from.

Personally, I treat Porndex like the Google of pornography. That is, it essentially is. If you are looking for something special, a niche in porn, this is the place to go. Definitely. But if you are looking for a quick masturbatory experience, chances are you will go to a site that is a bit more self-contained.

But I think there are valuable lessons to be gleaned from the makers of Porndex for all porn site developers. Hard work and ingenuity in site design, user experience, and organization will always pay off. Porn sites don't have to be ad-filled crap. Porn sites can really be great.
